JOHN LOBELL’S LECTURES
SUBJECT MATTER
Lobell’s cruise ship lectures cover a wide range of topics including the Future, Technology, Creativity, Myths and Movies, Architecture, Art, Venice, and the Adriatic. See the links from this website for brief summaries of his lectures and the complete lectures.
FORMAT AND APPROACH
All of Lobell’s lectures are presented with richly illustrated PowerPoints. Lobell has a casual approach involving interacting with the audience and encouraging questions and discussion. Lobell is noted for presenting interesting material in ways that any audience can understand.
Note that most of the full lectures you see on this website were done for college architecture students. The versions I do for general audiences including cruise ships are less academic.
COPYRIGHT FOR IMAGES
My lectures include no music or film clips. My lectures on movies do include stills from the movies, amounting to less than 1/1,000th of each movie which I assume makes them ok under fair use. All of my lectures are done with PowerPoints rich with images, most of which come from the internet. I do not have permissions for these images, but I assume that they are ok under fair use.
EXPERIENCE
Lobell is involved with cutting edge technology projects and gives fascinating lectures on the future. In addition to his years of college lecturing, Lobell has lectured at numerous universities, conferences, and cultural organizations throughout the world. And on a Seabourn Adriatic cruise.
